Spare Change

Spare Change is a spectacle of the haves and have nots within the power system, it is a manipulation of the organized habits of the masses. This work captures the moment when peoples everyday routine encounters change while unaware of their role in the moment and encourages the viewer to explore the space between poverty and wealth.

The same as money within capitalism is a catalyst for production, so too is money a catalyst for change to produce the performance documented in this work. By capturing this performance in photography and removing it from the moment in which it occurred this work becomes rendered as a produced commodity within the spectacle, a substitute for the experience.
